Grown Ups is an online community for adults who share a passion for gaming.  No drama, no kids.

<Grown Ups> was founded in 2008 as a World of Warcraft guild on US-Korgath (Alliance).  We sought to create a haven for mature gamers: an environment in which we could progress through end-game content without the frustrations that frequently accompany guilds that cater to a younger population.  Seven years later, we continue to thrive in WoW and we have expanded our presence to other games as well.

As members have branched out from Azeroth, they have carried the Grown Ups mantle to Star Wars: The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2, and others.  Our forums today include vibrant discussions on any number of gaming topics and we're proud to provide our friends with an online community to which they return regardless of the game they may be playing.

General Expectations
  • As the name suggests, our players are adults with the obligations that come with age.  We understand that family and professional commitments may prevent in-game attendance for scheduled events.  All we ask is you inform us ahead of time so we have adequate opportunity to prepare.  Real life always comes first.
  • Be respectful of other players, whether they are in <Grown Ups> or not.

Community Size & Composition
  • We tend to be a small and tightly-knit community.  Many of us have been friends online (or in real life) for years.  We're relatively selective about the people who are invited to join <Grown Ups> because we are serious about cultivating an environment free from drama.
  • We encourage our members to stay active on the forums and in the Shout Box.  We also host a Mumble server that is Mac compatible!

World of Warcraft
  • We describe ourselves as a semi-hardcore raiding guild because we don't have a core group of players that we expect to raid 30 hours each week, pushing progression until our eyes bleed.  We understand that the raid groups we field will change from night to night.  People will come and go throughout the week due to outside obligations.  However, there's nothing casual about our approach to executing a raid.  We want a roster stacked with members that are simply itching to raid whenever life permits.  We want a roster of people that have a hardcore raiding mentality without the time to be hardcore, folks that are excited to raid as a brief respite from family or work or whatever.
  • Our goal is to complete cutting edge content while it's still cutting edge in fraction of the time it takes other guilds to do it.  We do not raid a lot, but when we raid, we make it count.  All told, we spent less than ten hours learning to kill Nefarian.  That's the kind of performance we expect and it's kind of performance you can expect, too.
  • Be active!  We're a small guild, with a roster that should not exceed 35 active accounts (excluding alts).  This size ensures that, ideally, everyone will get a chance to participate in guild events without <Grown Ups> growing into an unwieldy monster that is impersonal and difficult to administer.  But the concept of a relatively small roster will only succeed if everyone makes an effort to be present as often as possible.
